A Connecticut wrapped cigar offered by Pinar del Rio.
Upon inspecting this cigar it was nicely rolled with no soft spots and a slightly veiny Connecticut wrapper. The cigar has two good quality bands, a bigger multicolor Pinar del Rio band with a smaller silver and burgundy "Exclusivo" band below it. I for one like to take my bands off before smoking and these bands removed easily without causing any damage to the wrapper. Topped with a triple cap that cut clean with my double guillotine cutter
This cigar has been in my humidor for a few weeks now and was ready to be smoked. I have a "go to" CT cigar that I like to smoke on the front nine while I am playing golf(I usually go fuller flavored on the back nine). Prelight draw on the Pinar del Rio had a faint taste of cedar and an earthy flavor to it as well, and seemed like it would draw well.
Upon lighting the draw was good and the flavor was slightly on the mild side with the hint of cedar and earthiness that was experienced in the prelight draw. The cigar held this flavor and burned rock solid throughout the first third. The ash was a medium gray and held for about 3/4 of an inch before falling off.
As it got in to the second third the flavor developed a little more towards medium bodied with stronger hints of cedar, a little tea flavor as well as the earthy undertone. It also developed a hint of a spicey/peppery flavor during the second third. It continued to burn nice and evenly throughout the second third and required no touchups.
For the final third the pepper faded away and the cigar finished with a similar flavor as the first third, with a stronger earthy flavor. I didn't quite nub this one as I became a little pressed for time after spending about an hour smoking it. All and all a good quality smoke and about what I expected for a Connecticut.
