I was wondering what your cigar/pipe mix looked like if you were going to herf for a day…

Do you smoke a few bowls in pipes back to back, or do you smoke one bowl then go to cigars, or ?

While still newer getting back into pipes, I am wanting to find a balance that works palate-wise.

I think my technique is getting there - I can keep a typically keep a bowl lit, and have really slowed down my rate of smoking and it has worked well. It seems that pipe smoke has a different impact as far as wearing out my palate versus cigars and I wonder if that is typical, or is that still a part of me refining my technique?

I can sit and smoke a gripload of cigars in a day, but I don’t get the same feeling about pipes at this point…

What do you guys think? Do you typically take a break between bowls, etc?

Thanks!

I normally stick with one or the other when herfing. If you wanted to you can pipe in the morning and cigar smoke in the afternoon. Make sure you use a different pipe for each bowl. I also dry my pipe tobacco out a little more so there won't be a chance of bite.

Yeah I have noticed that having to work harder to keep wet tobacco lit does cause a bite. I do use a different pipe when smoking in session, and even with that - the end of the evening and next morning my palate feels more spent than it does with cigars.

It is a lot of fun exploring - the array of tobaccos available is astounding!
