  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

OK guys. I have several estate pipes that I have cleaned and smoke. I just ordered 2 more. I bought some paste that you put on but it does not give the shine I was hoping for. I bought a bar of
carnauba wax. Can someone tell me the best place to buy a buffing wheel for a bench grinder? Is that the best way to get the wax on? Thanks

I've been using a Skil bench grinder with a buffer on one side for the various buffing pastes and a softer polisher on the other that I only use for carnuba wax. The RPMs are a little high, so it requires a gentle touch, but gets the job done.

Paragon wax for smooth pipes and Halcyon II wax for rustic.

No buffing required.

Quite honestly I do very little buffing on my pipes. White Diamond is what makes it shine then apply that carnauba wax. I wouldn't use a grinder with buffing wheels, too fast.

My buffing setup.

Buffing can and will fade or remove the stain and the stampings. Damaging the stamping can de-value the pipe by 80%.
