  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I voted "Other".

If Chris Paul is up there, Deron Williams should be as well. Deron had one hell of a year and is a top 3 point guard in the league right now. This year he has scored 1,540 points, handed out 860 assists and shot .508 from the field. :applause:

The only other players to score 1,500 points, hand out 800 assists and shoot 50 percent from the field in a single season, in the entire history of the NBA were Magic Johnson (1986-87 and 1988-89) and Kevin Johnson (1988-89), that's pretty elite company if you ask me.

BTW...I hate Kobe with every fiber of my being. However, he did have an amazing season and is probably the most deserving of the award. :argh:

Most assuredly. . .I think the current statistic is that 40% of the players have been involved in a felony. . .
Well, that is a claim by [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Out-Bounds-Inside-Culture-Violence/dp/B000HWYLDS/ref=pd_sim_b_1/102-0180048-9778533?ie=UTF8&qid=1173410173&sr=1-2"]this guy[/ame], and he didn't say 'arrested for a felony', he said 'involved with serious crimes', and even then I'm not sure of it's accuracy, although I would say it's undeniable that it seems a lot of NBA players are associated with various felons and thugs. The NFL too, for that matter. MLB has a steroid problem, and I'm sure dealing in steroids might be considered a 'serious crime' as well.

I know that this is an NBA thread, but I've seen more than a few of you rooting on your baseball and football teams as if they were innocent of the same accusations thrown at the NBA.

I'm just saying...

Why the hell do so many people have to come in here and thread crap on a serious topic? It's pretty sad when 50% of the posts in a thread are thread crapping, can you guys please start your own thread bagging on the NBA instead of overloading this one with it?

Greg, you may be correct, but having had a wife in the legal field for 25 years I can say without reservation that I have never heard of a misdemeanor, even gross misdemeanors, referred to as serious crimes. . .:shame:

A quote from the book you reference: "During the 2001-2002 NBA season, a full 40 percent of NBA players had police records involving serious crimes. These ranged from armed robbery to rape."

Please start another thread to discuss this and quit thread crapping this one.

Ranged...hmmm....what does that mean??...pretty deceiving if you ask me, especially since 'conviction' is not mentioned once. Innocent until proven guilty, right?

I'm not saying these guys are angels, not by a long shot!

Kobe is probably going to win, although I personally think he is a show boat. But, if Kobe had a healthy team and a great big man to free him up more, watch out. Till then, he is a ball hog!

Kevin Garnett had a good year, Lebron is good, but we will see if the Cavs can make it all the way. Paul is the bomb though. JMHO!
