  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

This is the second Palio cutter that's done this to me, can any of you shed some light as to why? Both cutters were made before they were purchased out as well.

The picture looks like it has rust or something, it does not, it's just flecks of tobacco of the cigar I cut before I noticed the damage

A little disclaimer here. I LOVE Palio cutters and I love the warranty on them. This isn't meant to be a flame or a cry for free stuff. I just want to figure out how I can protect my cutter.

I have no useful information, I haven't had any problem out of mine and it's the only cutter I use. Maybe I can learn something I need to do so that this doesn't happen to mine as well

Mine did this as well. Looks like the blades cut into each other. I assumed a stem threw the blade direction just slightly off enough to torque them into one another. Mine was purchased years ago as well.

I had Palio replace it but getting a hold of customer service was a pain. They were great once I had gotten in contact with them. However, due to the wait, I purchased a Xikar and haven't looked back. The Palio is now rarely used.

Blades are just too thin and fragile; hit a thick stem and it mangles the blade. It's why I stopped using Palio. I had to replace one twice.

By the way the new warranty is terrible. They have had mine since Last August and I am still waiting. It's also $12.50 to have it looked at.

Same with me. But I just went to a store that sold them and switched it out.

I had the same issue with mine, I really loved it when they worked but just got tired of replacing it. I went through 5-6 of them before I gave up, hopefully the new ones will be better.

Wow Mickey. Sorry to see your cutter is in bad shape. Ironically, one of the strengths of Palio cutters is their ability to "slice" cigar caps because of their thin blades...but as has been shown in this thread, this strength can also be a weakness.
I had my first Palio cutter for 9 years and there were no blade issues but I did lose the detent resistance so it opened to easily(but after 9 years, I'd say it served its time) so I exchanged it for another one (the newer version) and have had that one for about 3 years now.

No problems here either. I've had about 10 of them. But only one now (gave the others away like an a-hole). One I have is about 6 years old. Just can't get away from the function of the Palio. Xikar is great but not as "well timed" as the cutting motion of the Palio. My dos centavos
