  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Anyone ever use the Y cutter? I'm a huge fan of my xikar cigar scissors but the design of the Prometheus Y intrigues me.
Is it just a different looking double guillotine?
Buy or leave alone?

I think the Cutter looks sweet and i'm going to buy one....
I'll look up there warranty, but i highly doubt that it's going to suck?

Nothing, but when it comes down to getting what you pay for, Palio is the way to go! Palio is the easiest to use, IMO as well. It cuts through every cap like butter.

I've had three prometheus lighters (yes, I didn't learn the first two times) and they've all failed shortly after the warranty and nothing from Prometheus. Maybe it was my bad luck but I wouldn't purchase anything from them.

On the other hand, I have several Xikar cutters and when one broke, they sent me a new one and a case along with it within two weeks. I've heard great things about the Palio also.

Palio has an on site replacement warranty. If you feel it is not cutting good, you take it to any Palio retailer, and they replace it on the spot. No questions asked.

Stick with Palio or Xikar. I have both and prefer the Palio by a small but definite margin. I was told by a Prometheus dealer that they used to make a good product but that the new stuff sucks, including the cutters. JMO, YMMV.

Haven't really heard of this Prometheus Y Cutter until now, just looked up a review and it seems it was very poorly received by at least one man. He claimed it tore rather than cut his cigars... Based purely on that I wouldn't take the chance, I would go with some of the other suggestions here especially given the price of the Y cutter.
