OK, unlike many here, I don't like to be in rooms that reek of secondhand smoke or the staleness that comes when the smoke is gone. But the proposal to restrict outdoor smoking is absolutely ridiculous. And note that in the motion, Councilman Parks refers to smoking as "addicting." Does not apply to cigar smoking, at least not to this cigar smoker.

This is getting way out of hand. I think Mr. Parks should be wasting our tax dollars on something worthwile. You can smoke crack but not cigars or cigarettes....

Eric Craig, a non-smoker, told a local TV station he doesn't think "people ought to be able to smoke indoors where I have to breathe it. But outdoors in the open air, people have to be able to smoke somewhere. Otherwise they ought to outlaw smoking altogether." RIGHT ON.

Under the ordinance, smoking on a city sidewalk will be forbidden.
WTF -- could I walk the dog in the street instead and smoke there?

This whole thing is especially funny to me because I was a closet cigar smoker for many years and now I'm one of the outlaws.

He's what I would call a "turd on a stick". What's that good for? Absolutely Nothing!

I live in Western PA and there are some smoking bans in place in Allegheny County where Pittsburgh is located. Not sure, but smoking is still allowed in certain bars where food is a small percentage of the revenue. I live in an adjacent county, so I can still go to bar and smoke a cigar. Usually I just smoke at home. This way the Nazis can't get me. My wife has allergies, so I smoke outside in the warm months and the garage at other times of the year.

This is coming fast to more cities and states and this isn't the last we will see. It makes me sick of the double standard that gov't wants to legislate where we can smoke cigars but at the same time LA County can spew tons of smog and contaminants into the air for everyone to breathe. The only place left to smoke safely so far is our own homes and even that is in jeopardy if these cigar nazis have their way.

Bernard Parks was a donkey as Chief, is a donkey as a city councilman and heaven forbid if he is elected as member of the board of Supervisors. I'm voting for the other guy.

Parks' own department personnel couldn't stand him.
