Again, I need to thank Jim for this opportunity to review. This ranks up there with my last review as one of the best experiences I've had in my cigar smoking career.
On to the review.
Construction: toothy, veiny, all around solid construction.
Used a straight cut... Triple flame torch, but pulled a Rasshat and ran out of fuel mid light. Grabbed the standby single flame torch to finish it.
Initial draw is loose, and rather flavorless... I chalked that up to the breakfast that my wife made, lots of jalapeños and salsa. But mid toast I begin to feel the onslaught of a sinus issue.
1st 3rd
I'm reminded of the melt in your mouth texture of cotton candy, I want to swish the smoke around in my mouth to make it melt faster but to no avail. I fear that my flavor pick up will me muted with the sinus issue I have. But try to keep going. Regardless I think, I'm pushing through. The retrohale will be rather wonky as I push the smoke out of only one nostril. The second is completely plugged. The one I'm pushing out of is picking up heavy pepper. Not enough to not enjoy, but heavy none the less.
2nd 3rd
I'm regretting my decision to smoke today, and really regretting my decision to blind review. I begin to pick up a slight citrusy flavor, but as soon as I try to concentrate on it, it's gone. This makes my regret kick into higher gear as I can only imagine if I had my full faculties about me, this thing would blow me away.
Final 3rd:
As I pull into the final third, the flavor I couldn't put my finger on was more pronounced and noticeable to me. It was in fact citrus I was tasting. I do like the mild orange citrus taste I get with some cigars. Maybe I'm just more attuned to that than some of the others. Retrohale has ceased as both barrels are plugged. But still getting a bit of pepper to it.
All in all, this was an enjoyable smoke, one I would like to revisit on a later occasion.
Appearance and presentation: 19/20
Lighting and burning properties: 13/15
Construction: 29/30
Taste: 30/35. But that may have been my sinus issues.
I wish I could have given this more, but once I sat down and started toasting, sinuses started acting up.
