  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Once again, going through that Cigar King sampler I got a while back.

Here's the Cigar King link to the cigar itself.

Looking at this through the cello it looked very promising. The cello was actually somewhat yellowed near the head. The construction though was... lacking. The wrapper was veiny, I counted three small holes, and it looked like it was loosely wrapped. The pre-light aroma wasn't very complex, a little spice and some rich tobacco smells. I cut it and checked the pre-light draw. Despite the flaws on the wrapper the draw was still good, very smooth and flavorful. There was some spiciness on my lips pre-light.

Upon lighting it gave an incredibly spicy first few puffs. The first third was predominantly spicy and a little vegetal. The stick mellowed out after the first third. I was enjoying it so much I smoked it a little fast. I had to purge at the halfway point. The spiciness returned after purging. I smoked it down to a quarter of the stick. At that point it became too harsh for me to continue and I put it out.

Overall I give this one a 75/100 with points being taken away for the poor construction. I think at this price and with a little age it could be an excellent cigar.
