  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Let me start by saying that I was in a pretty melancholy mood this evening. The job situation swallows and all in all, I am having the opposite of a mountain top experience. So I reach for a Drac in hopes that it along with a couple of cups of Starbucks Tribute and my spirits might be lifted.

So I clip the cap/head give a couple of pre-light draws which the primary taste was heavy tobacco and spice.

Once it was lit, my tastes were confirmed. A nice hearty blast of pepper and we're off. The body was medium to full and the smoke was creamy and it almost leaves a sweet taste of vanilla behind. The burn on this stick left a little to be desired although it was self-correcting.

At about the halfway point the spiciness picks up, the draw seems to get better and the volume of smoke is thick and chewy. The smoke is so thick in fact that it is almost cloying my tongue. The strength of this stick also intensifies along with maintaining the sweetness and I am enjoying every minute of it.

Final third of this stick was more of the same. The only thing missing in this stick was complexity, a power house for sure, just not all that complex.

As for the mood, well, God willing and the creek don't rise, the sun will come up tomorrow and I will greet it with praise.

Thanks for listening.

I only got three Drac's and have yet to have one. I will give it a smoke the next few days to see if my opinion differs.

And as for the Tribute Coffee, been loving that myself!

Not to start a threadjack here... but I wish this would be a regular blend. I guess it is only out for a limited time, so I stuck a bunch of whole bean bags in the freezer.

As for the Drac... just to expand on my earlier post... it seemed very consistent, almost one-dimensionally so, and not particularly complex.

Great review! The Dracs are smoking really great for me too. I wish I had brought one with me to the States, lol. I agree that they're not extremely complex, and moreso that they are not a dynamic cigar (i.e. not much flavor evolution as you smoke through it). But since the flavors that are there are really great to me, it's all good!

A quick review for such a saught after stick. Maybe your mood soured it's complexity a bit? I like these alot and actually find alot going on with them the longer they sit. I say try again in another couple months!

Never had a Drac myself, but thanks for the review.

I'm sure things will turn up for you both in every day life and professionally. Good things happen to good people.

Hmm... now this is interesting... I've heard some not-so-flattering things about the drac.

Then, when I had one for the first time a few months ago, I actually thought it to be a nice cigar.... very nice, actually. Good construction, great peppery flavor, earthy notes...

I'm glad someone else likes it too.

Thanks for the review.

I smoked one on Saturday and was underwhelmed. The first half was a flavorless stick of tobacco, while the 2nd was much better. But for an overall experience, this stick is not nearly what I hoped it could be. I even remember the boys at the Leaf asking why I was still smoking it, if it was so flavorless. I'm just not one to give up too soon. I'm glad there are some who like these, but I am not part of that group.

Appreciate the share and the review.

Work is work.

I ask for help in the morning and say thanks in the eve, and it seems to work for me. :)
