Since the later half of 2013 I have found myself on the road quite a bit. 2013 was also my first trip to Big Smoke Las Vegas. One of the greatest times in my life. Can't believe it took me this long to actually go. Worth every penny. Since being on the road, I have searched for cigar shops and lounges that remind me of my home and more importantly remind me of the time I had at BSLV. I have realized that there is so much more to a cigar smoking experience than smoking, drinking, and eating your face off with the backdrop being Sin City. I have spent extended periods of time in 4 different states in the past year and a half. And, in each state I have sought out a place to enjoy these gifts from the Gods.
In all the places I have been, there has been one key factor that has made each lounge my second home during my time on the road. That factor being customer service. But, it goes above and beyond that. The most successful places that I have visited made me feel like I belong. Like I am welcome at anytime. The Tobacconist in each one of these places took the time to get to know me and my tastes as if I was their only customer and they truly loved what they were doing. The knowledge they have of all their product is beyond impressive.
Queensbury Cigar and Pipe is not exception. As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted by bearded man named Justin with a warm handshake and a smile. He escorted me into his "office" to show me their extensive selection of sticks. Here he asked some very key questions in an attempt to get to know my palate. From there he made some very good recommendations from which I made my selection. Justin's hospitality did not end there. He introduced me to the other staff as if I was a VIP. They also offered a hearty hand shake and greeting.
Their lounge was very spacious and layered like a good lounge should be. Plenty of seating which included rocking chairs, and barstools in addition to the standard leather chairs that you find in most good lounges. Seating that even a 6ft 5in big man like myself, could be comfortable in. If it stopped there, it would be more than enough. But it continues with plenty of TVs and separated spaces to allow you to converse and visit with new acquaintances, or old friends.
In my past experience, I have also noticed that those places with friendly staff also attracted like minded individuals. This was very apparent at Queensbury Cigar and Pipe as well. Overall my first visit to this fine establishment was well worth the 35mile drive to get there. And Im sure it will continue to be worth the trip outside of my immediate area.
So, for all you upstate New Yorkers, or anyone looking for a great cigar destination spot in the area, I highly recommend this fine establishment.
