I picked up one of these for my birthday and I just had to smoke it first. The story of these cigars being blended to smoke while drinking Octoberfest beer is something that I found really interesting.
So yesterday I travelled to the store and picked up some Sam Adams Octoberfest, and got to smoking.
The color was a nice oily brown that look spectacular. Only one decent sized vein. Cap held together after I used a straight cut.
Draw was perfect for this robusto.
I noticed from the beginning of the cigar there was some nut, caramel and leather flavors. There was some spice, but it was in the back and only came up to the front every few puffs.
Towards the middle some sweetness started to come through and the spice started to ramp up a bit. Flavors stayed basically the same.
The last part is where this cigar got my real attention. The flavors seemed to "pop". The carmel and leather were full blast, spice was there just about every puff. Some cedar notes and what I thought was a somewhat fruity flavor came in. Great finish.
I am not someone who personally believes beer and cigars mix, but I could understand with this cigar how I could change my mind. The cigar paired very well with the beer, there wasn't a clashing of flavors and I enjoyed both together. I would recommend these to try to anyone who likes a darker beer and good cigar.
I would give this cigar an 88/100.
Did I like this cigar. Yes. Was the price point good. Yes. $8 is what I paid. Will I buy more for me and my friends. Yes.
