Quick Review: Joya Fuerte Serie B Toro

So, fuerte is Spanish for strong, and fuerte is used pretty liberally around the cigar marketplace. In this case we have an aptly named cigar.....these are strong!

Again, short review here, as I normally like to include a nice background paragraph on the cigar, history, blend, et al.

Prelight
This cigar is beautiful, with a dark Nicaraguan wrapper, with few veins and a nice heft, revealing a solid pack.
Nicaraguan Cuban-seed Criollo make up the bulk...Not sure what the binder is.

First Third
The smoke starts of with a bang, inviting you to fasten your setbelts for a strong, peppery ride. The first third is just a ton of pepper, and some walnuts...Really strong.

Second/Last Third
Unfortunately, the profile changes very little thoughout the smoke. Of course this is great news for those who love it, but to my palate this cigar lacked balance. It would have been great to have some other flavors appear, but it was just dark tobacco and spice for the duration.

Closing
Great construction, tons of smoke, just a bit one-dimensional

It is my understanding that these cigars are very comparable to the Antaño line, (which I have yet to try so I cannot comment) but are much less costly due to the bundled presentation.

To me the Fuerte B isn't as leathery as the Antano :dunno:.
