  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Had this tubos gifted to me by Aquarich the other day. Me and another botl by the name of WB at the leaf smoked this side by side a few days ago.
Prelight: Light cedar and light tobacco smell.
Clip: no probs at all w Palio
1 Inch: This cigar had a very familiar taste
1st 3rd: Wb asked if I had a familiar taste to another cigar we have both had? I said excitedly that it was the Holts #9 bigger brother. And w a huge smile he stated "exactly".
I got a familiar taste of asparagus, more light cedar, and tobacco thru out the whole burn
Rest of the cigar burned perfect, smelled wonderful and I smoked it down to the nub.
I havn't smoked a black tubos yet but I'm already guessing the red tubos are going to eventually steal the show from its sibling.
The only thing I noticed along w WB was that it had a very slight bitterness just like the #9 had when they were new as well.
Justin
Edit: I would also like to add that this is 1 of the only cigars lately that I agree on the price. (along with the 09 anejo 46 as well)

SO glad to hear this after buying a box yesterday. I hesitated a bit wondering if these were going to be worth it. The #9 is a bad ass cigar and I'm glad to hear it's very similar.

I smoked one today, as well. I thought it was pretty flat, from a flavor profile stand-point. The last 1/3 finished nicely. I think with more time, this will be a better stick than it is today.

Thanks for the review Justin!

I have heard from friends locally that they have preferred the Red Tubos over the Black Tubos.

I like asparagus, but had never heard that descrption used in describing flavors that someone got from a cigar.

I use it alot of times when describing Avos, etc.
earth and grass, barnyard. But heavier on the earth side of things.

Funny you should mention AVO's, must Kelner blended cigars, like AVO and Davidoff, I have always described as having a musky flavor/taste to them.

I always figured that was Kelner's trademark for his cigars.

Interesting... I know exactly what you mean when you refer to 'asparagas' in the Verocu #9 - had one earlier tonight... but I never got that out of an Avo...
