  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

    Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Stick:
La Perla Habana Grand D Robusto (5.25 x 52)

Price: $? usd
Drink of choice: Arnold Palmer

Construction:

Very firm feel. Clips easily. Very sloppy patch on the wrapper.

Start time 3:45 p.m.

This thing started tunneling faster than a badger! Wrapper started cracking immediately at the head. Wrapper barely burned. I fought with it the best I could, but gave up after 20 minutes.

End time: 4:05 p.m.

What I did get to enjoy out of it was very nice, however. The flavors I picked up were strong tobacco and tea flavors, with a long finish complimented by a vanilla flavor. There was a very, very slight spice at the back of my mouth. I wish this stick had worked out, because I was very much enjoying these flavors - especially as a way to relax after a difficult final exam.

What's a guy to do? :sadstare::sadstare:

As a neubie I've had this same experience with other cigars. At first I thought that it was just poor construction on the "genuine hand mades from the Dominican Republic" that I picked up for way less than a buck a stick. I then thought that I might be that they were a little too moist as the same problem was happening to other "quality" cigars. I still continue to have this problem occasionally even though I rest them for a couple of weeks in the humidor at 65%. I have always wanted to pick up a Black Pearl. Bums me out to pitch any cigar into the snow after five minutes fighting with it.
