Stick:
Taboo Twist Toro (50 x 6)
Gifted to me by Tom (ciggy), thanks brother!!
This was my first Taboo, and my first Barber Pole.
Price: $7.00 usd
Drink of choice: N/A
Construction:
8/10
Looks good. Has some weight to it. It is packed really firm. A couple prominent veins. Has a nice double? cap. Cut easily.
Burn: 7/10
Weird. The Connecticut wrapper burned faster than the maduro wrapper. It was pretty wavy. Didn’t NEED touch ups, but I did a couple times just because I’m OCD. It also burned pretty fast, it didn’t seem to last as long as other Toros I’ve smoked. But, I didn’t time this cigar, so who knows.
Draw: 9/10
Perfect at the start. Became a little more difficult in the final third.
Ash:
Started off really dark for about an inch, then turned to white.
Body:
Mild-Medium.
Cold Draw: Strong tobacco. Perhaps a little bit of hazelnut?
Flavors:
First Third:
Barnyard flavors. Lots of grass and hay. A slight nuttiness. The smoke is smooth and creamy, with a small amount of spice and a short finish. Perhaps a little bit of honey on the finish… couldn’t really pinpoint the flavor.
The second third:
The burn started off pretty bad, but seems to be correcting itself. There is a slight black pepper that leaves a spice on my lips and near my throat. There were some strong notes of hot chocolate.
Final third: Almost all spice has faded. A lot of creamy-coffee flavor.
Nubbed it with about 1.5 inches left. The flavors were turning bitter, and the stick was starting to tunnel. This thing NEVER ASHED.
Worth the money?: For a mild smoke, yes.
Would I recommend it?: Yep!
Total smoking time: No idea
Thanks for reading!
