  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Back story, in case you don't peruse the "show me your purchases" thread:
My step-dad's friend dropped by today, says "Alex, you like cigars right?" Yeah.... "Cool. Here you go." Gave me this:

Never heard of them before. I'm assuming super mild, and they don't look like the best quality. But hey, it's a free box of smokes. i'm content.
----------------------------------------------------
Stick:
Royal Barbados #2 (6.5 x 46) http://www.royalbarbados.com/Home/royal-barbados-number-two
Smoking this one fresh. I will update the series as these get some age on them.

Price: see above
Drink of choice: New Glarus Spotted Cow

Construction:
7/10
This stick looks handsome. No major veins. There is a simple single cap on top. The entire stick is a LITTLE on the spongy side, most noticeably by the foot. Cold draw seems a tad tight. The band is simple, but looks nice. Props to them on that.

Burn: 10/10
Razor sharp, lots of smoke, and requires none of my attention.

Draw: 9/10
Excellent. It may be slightly on the tight side, or that just may be my canker sores complaining. I will keep it at its high score.

Ash:
Very light grey, falling off in 3/4inch intervals.

Body:
Very mild, as advertised.

Cold Draw: xxx

Flavors:
First Third:
Well, they certainly weren't lying about the mild flavors. So far I am getting mainly a tobacco flavor with the slightest hints of grass. Notes of raisin come every now and then, as well as some glimpses of honey.

The second third:
It's like a whole new stick. The first third flavors are still there. But there is a big burst of citrus flavor, like a lemon zest. It's still mild, but the depth of flavor has increased some. The tobacco flavor has also become richer, and less reminiscent of stale cigarettes. Some coffee and hazelnut flavors have found their way into the mix now as well. I'm rather enjoying this smoke.

Final third:
The last third is heavily dominated by grass now. My good feelings toward this cigar are quickly disintegrating. Some hay and coffee are coming through, along with an occasional HIGHLY sweet note - a lot like chewing on a sugar cane. Muy interesante.

Worth the money?: Withholding judgement on this category for the moment.
Would I recommend it?: For a nice mild smoke, yes I would. Guess I have a good morning 'gar for a while now.

Total smoking time: forgot to record it, sorry

Thanks for reading!
