Ha! I'll make you a deal. You get all the idiot drivers here in FL to drive the speed limit, stay out of the left lane unless they are passing, and get off their damn cell phones/texting while driving, and I will happily drive the speed limit... Deal?

Fact is, down here 99% of accidents are not caused by people exceeding the speed limit by 10 miles an hour, it's by people doing the things I mentioned above... Well, that and all the out of state/international tourists who don't know where they are going and making U turns across 3 lanes in heavy traffic.

Here in DC alone, they're on track to issue almost three quarter of a million speed tickets from cameras just this year --- netting the city $80 Mil in fines.
Wow!!! I've never driven in DC, but from the sounds of that they probably have a more vested interest in keeping that income coming in to the district and not to slowing people down...

They just passed a new law that says that if you are doing less then 10 miles an hour UNDER the speed limit, or you are impeding traffic, you can get pulled and issued a $60 ticket. I just hope that they will enforce it, driving on I4 during touron season is ridiculous, 65 mph speed limit an your stuck doing 45 behind some ahole or ancient that was around when horse an buggy was the only mode of transportation.....

And don't go making any promises you can't keep, you know the only time you'll ever do the speed limit is when you have your son in the car ;)

Ha, well, if all the idiots I was trying to avoid by speeding were out of my way or at least following the rules I'd be better at least...

This cracks me up because in New Orleans the people voted to remove them ( Speed Cameras )... :) Come to find out they were giving to many tickets so the will of the people got rid of them...

America has to many laws and the last thing we want is all of those laws being enforced everyone is to quick to jump on the band wagon that we all should be lawful just because the media and certain few like to impose their will upon the masses. Law who's law?

I've been pretty happy with my Escort 9500ix. Their network of camera locations and known speed traps is pretty solid. I haven't had too many false rings. The V1 is great too, and they're the only ones who let you know which direction the signal is coming from, which can be handy.

Whatever you go with, spend time learning the ins and outs of how detectors work. They have their advantages, but they also have distinct weak points.

The best weapon for getting under "the radar" is to find a jackrabbit who loves to speed and follow him at about 50-100 yards and let him take the hit. I don't get out in front anymore and cops are good at hiding...they use the brush between the Interstate...they use the overpasses...they use the hills as when you crest the hill....boom...there they are. Radar/Lasers detectors are just one tool for consumers but when you combine what Law Enforcement has to do their job we're just passing the time until they get us. It's really about using common sense when driving....don't tailgate the speeder in front of you...don't zig zag back and forth as that is what Patrolman look for. Changing lanes is something speeders always do to keep going but the Cops see it as a prelude to lock on to you.

I use to get speeding tickets all the time but in the last 15 years I have not had one using the above techniques....let the other speeder take the hit first and follow him from a distance and if there aren't any speedsters then sit back and hit cruise control and have a cigar...another speedster will be coming in just a few moments.

Yes this is the best since my wife hates the beeping of the radar detectors. Trailing someone going fast enough works great.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see a car behind the first speeding car is traveling at the same speed. Many cops go after the 2nd car knowing those people are trying to do exactly what you are saying to do. All the advice is definitely good, but don't believe for a second that being the 2nd car 100 yards behind will save you from a ticket. But, it is better than being 1st. LOL

I'm with Heath on this one! I usually follow behind someone going well over the posted limit and let them be my decoy... So far it's working out for me!

15 years can't be wrong....I would never get right behind the speeding car...that's too obvious and one doesn't get in that same exact lane...you draft in another lane.

I dont speed anymore after figuring out how has mileage worked. These days that gas mileage is best at 65 mph. Anything more and you take a heavy hit. The cost of gas these days is too heavy to be wasting via speeding. Plus I try to respect the laws of safety, they have a very valid reason to exist after all.

I do always laugh at the trucks going 80. The mileage for them is murder.

My bad, no one could ever be wrong huh? This isn't black and white, right or wrong, just offering my opinion on the matter. I even said ALL the advice is good. I agree what you said helps, but don't count on that working every time. Every cop is different and cops have good and bad days.

Bingo! Life is too short to be constantly looking for cops.

I've had a Beltronics Rx65 for almost 10 years... love it and has saved me many times.
Dug out my Rx65 for a Detroit-Traverse City around trip...paid for itself (or possible three tickets for +15). Law enforcement still using KA, and the POP feature saved me from one tix.
