Re-Installing Windows

So I want to reinstall Windows 2000 as I feel like after a few years and all the various programs I've installed, it's just not running at peak. I have a windows 2000 upgrade but not sure if this will do that job for me.

Anyone got any hints/tips/tricks?

If you're doing a reinstall - why not upgrade to XP?
