I have heard that red cedar is inferior to Spanish cedar in storing cigars. Is this true? If so, why?

Red cedar is too aromatic and will overpower the natural cigar flavors. Stick with the Spanish cedar for storage. Spanish cedar is in the mahogany family which is mold resistant and holds the RH well. KISS is a perfect rule here, don't re-invent the wheel.
