Reinado Grand Empire Reserve Ecuadorian Connecticut Edition
6x38 Petit Lancero
Construction & Appearance: Evenly toned, light brown wrapper. Seems to have one vein running from the cap to the band, doesn't look like it will cause an issues. Standard GER double bands, Beautifully applied pigtail cap, I almost feel bad cutting it...almost.
Pre Light: Strong hay scent with a light aged tobacco note. Light and crisp, almost refreshing.
First 3rd: Still getting the hay and tobacco notes, along with a rich and bitter coffee flavor. Kind of surprising based how light the wrapper is. Decent amount of white pepper on the retrohale. Nice light grey ash that dropped at about 3/4".
Second 3rd: Flavors are starting to mellow out and blend together a bit. Coffee notes are starting to fade and leather is moving to the front. Towards the end of the 2/3 the pepper is starting to pick up a lot, getting a tingle on the lips and tongue. Maintaining a nice sharp burn line the whole way through.
Final 3rd: Pepper has died out. I'm starting to get a very earthy flavor, almost like mushrooms. But overall there is not a lot of change from the 2/3.
Final Thoughts: I'm very surprised at how bold the flavors were based on how light the wrapper is, I didn't expect it at all. Just looking at the cigar I thought it might be a bit to mild for my tastes, not at all. This is medium/full cigar with some very interesting flavors.

Like all Grand Empire Reserves, the new Petit Lancero (6X38) possesses Nicaraguan binder and filler that have been uniquely blended and fermented using REINADO's signature process. However, it also incorporates an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper that has been finely aged 3 years as well as an ornate pigtail head.
