  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Foreword: I would like to thank @TheReMixologist for the opportunity to enjoy her home rolls. I will start by saying, I did watch the informational video concerning the stick. Also I did spend a little more time than usual inspecting the stick, I know everyone is wondering, what's up with that foot. What is it it looks painted on, and it was a very creative idea. It's always good to see a woman's spin on things.

Inspection: this is the first time I have seen a whistle pressed stick. Seems like it's 5" in length. With a 1/2" what looks like a painted on gold foot. Alot of the gold settled in shipping so I got one sparkly stick here. It was shipped with a cedar sachet which smelled wonderful by the way. There are some prominent veins not enough to cause concern, can't really identify the seams but this isn't an ordinary stick. There where some minor cracks that I attribute to shipping. Kinda of hard to assign a rg, the best way I can think to discribe it is a quarter of a 60rg pressed flat it does sit in your mouth perfectly.DSC04043.JPG

Pre light: it's not very aromatic. I was trying g to be careful loosening the foot but that pig tail fell off so I tried my best to expose enough of the foot to light. Foot smells of campfire. I looked for the little wicks but couldn't find one so I just stole one from the other sticks sent. I was going to time it to see just how long they are good for, so yes I used a stop watch.

Cut: no need the head is open so let's light it

Cold draw: just the right amount of resistance. Leaving my tounge and lips tingling.

Light: I used the included wick. I held it perpendicular to the ground to allow the longest burning time which was ample enough for me to have a good 30-45 seconds left after the cigar was fully toasted. The wick lasted 1:58:94.

First 1/3: suprisingly very little pepper enough to know it's there. It doesn't produce alot of smoke. I can see the sparkly ash like in the video. It's woody but can't differentiate what wood. Some molasses or carmel a sweetness anyway. That sweetness is on the back of the palate. Burn is good so far.DSC04046.JPG

it's a very calm smooth smoke would definitely put it a after dinner classification thick and chewie. Nothing angery about it, which is good for me.

Second 1/3: got spice starting to come in. There is alot of things going on on the back of the palate hard to identify. Things on the front that are identifiable, flowers or perfume, also just a hint of pepper the wood and some molasses or sweet tobacco. Burn has some waves but we will leave it and see if it corrects it's self. Nearing the end of the second third this g level out some to little bit of pepper and sweet tobacco

last 1/3: did have to end up touching up. Still getting g that flowery perfume. The outside of the stick is suprisingly cool all the way up to the burn line, good construction. Like I said before alot going g on on the back of the palate they are good things.

Final thoughts: I definitely enjoyed this stick very creative. Definitely an after dinner smoke. Thick and chewie. Burn time 53 min. Good for me flavors.

:shame: Thank you for your kindness. ~xox no worries on the Hog Tie you referred to as tail... :p tails are on top ;) The knot is supposed to either twist off or fall off with gentle pressure in order to create a point for air to flow during the draw of roasting. Once the little hole is open... just start roasting and drawing ;) The Sweetness is likely that of maple and a few of the tb leaves which have some sweeter notes to them. The Gold is edible so no worries on that either... unfortunate that you lost some in transport... first I've heard of it... I'll modify that immediately thanks to your notation.

Traditionally only my Vaulted Sticks are actually Golden ... my imagination said that every foot should have a good shoe ;) So the Golden Slipper seemed ideal ;) . When we were all born... long time ago... parents often had their babies first set of shoes cast in bronze, gold, copper or silver etc. A good stick is like the body of a woman... having a binder, dress and looks fab head to toe... she just never came complete without something on her foot ;). The perfume... may have come from the cedar... it's redwood... the tree tends to have a more perfume quality. The Smoke volume is controlled by the whistle press... as it warms up... which should happen once the gold has turned the ash silver... widening the press will open the head for a more bellowing smoke.... to minimize smoke... press even flatter.

I hand bind and wrap ... I used to press them in a mold... I don't anymore... there was something organic about allowing her to be ... well... who she is... thus the veins may be more prominent, however I try to select the best part of the leaf to roll with to avoid complications. My Vault Collection is primarily Vein Free. Subtleties of the seductive dance between marination and tobacco is what creates the ReMix... each tastes her uniquely... the undeniably unidentifiable nature of her embodiment... as you note... she is no ordinary stick... she is only like... a ReMix Cigar ;) . From the review of your experience... it seems you had ... the ReMix experience. My apologies on the wick... I'd remembered you said you had a special way you light your sticks... so I didn't want to pressure you to use the wick on your first stick... Traditionally every stick comes with a buzz wick lighter. I won't over look that in the future. For an even fuller experience... I recommend a few small retrohales on the other sticks to thoroughly taste the marination blend.

You were brave, conscious, considerate, patient and attentive... as a good man should be with his lady... well done. ~xox:kiss:

I actually LOVE matches myself... prefer the very long wooden safety matches :p I came up with the buzz wick because a lot of SOTL have acrylic nails or nails that are painted and once the heat of a short match gets too close it starts to burn the polish... so we have to waste good matches a lot of times. (I'm always trying to find a lovely way to ReMix a situation to solve a perceivable problem :p ). Torching is always an option but I prefer toasting over torching a fine cigar... a money maker can get torched :p NOT a ReMix lol... anyway as you noted... plenty time with the wick to protect fingers or nails from burn... plus... you can relight it... you don't have to let it burn all the way out :p just pinch it out and use again later ... so that's another advantage over the strike... I will find a way next to dip the buzz wick in a mix to create a strike bit on the end... that will be the finishing touch I'm looking for... so that it can strike light rather than being lit... still working on it :p Thanks again and I'm So glad you enjoyed it and I hope the rest bring you even more good times! ~xoxx
