I recently acquired and restored these two Dunhill pipes. I also snagged a third Shell Briar bowl but it has some chips out of the rim and no stem. I may see what I can do to restore that one. Here is a 1964 Dunhill Shell Briar and a 1978 Dunhill Root Briar that I restored.
I didn't take great pics but here are a couple before pics including the bowl of the 3rd Dunhill Shell Briar in this first pic. It is smaller then the other Shell Briar. I'll date it when I get home and maybe take a couple pics of the chips to see if any of you guys with experience may have some advice. It's a Dunhill I can't just discard it. The Root Briar rim was almost solid black. Overall they were in pretty good shape including the stems.
You could top it if you're just worried about making it pretty and presentable. Just take that top 1/8" off. It's probably not salvageable collector value-wise, but I'm pretty sure you're past that with this one anyway.
