Ok ladies and Gents,
I thought I would smoke this Opus in celebration of a nice day. I have a couple of them, and thought I'd light one up.
This one was gifted to me by Terran. Thank you brother, very much appreciated!
Don't worry though everyone, it's not the opus I'm saving for graduation!
Beware, I went a little picture-crazy during this one, so for those of you with slower computers, give em a few minutes to load.
So this is the second Opus I've smoked in my short cigar smoking career. The first one I had over the summer, but was too new to really appreciate it at all. Lets just say, this was quite a yummy stick!!
It was a 5 1/4' stick with a 50 RG I believe.
It had a nice medium brown color, with a few color differences throughout the wrapper.
It had a medium draw, which stayed consistent throughout the whole smoke.
The taste was quite delicious. I noticed some spice through the nose, with a nice woody flavor with hints of agedness and earth. There was also a hint of caramel that emerged on the finish.
There was a nice, grassy smell on the foot, almost sweet, and it reminded me a bit of marijuana. (could have been the kids waking by though)
During the second third, there was a sweet, earthy taste that became less sweet into the second third.
The ash was quite flaky as well, it even had the nerve to fall on my notebook! Well I didn't mind too much...it's a great cigar.
The earth and woody taste I am experiencing reminds me a bit like cedar. Spice also comes back toward the end of the second third, and the stick stays consistent throughout the final third.
Alright, a bit off topic but whatever. Amongst my friends and the people I hang out with, there are about 3 or 4 other Dave's. I acquired the nickname "cigar Dave" for obvious reasons.
My buddy carved this on the picnic table where I always smoke. Not sure if it's legal, but it looks kinda cool! :ccool:
Overall this was quite a treat to have! I would give this cigar an 88/100 based on the delicious flavors it gave to me. The earth and woodiness I picked up are amongst my favorite notes to find in a cigar.
Hope you enjoyed this review!
