  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Missed these? Yet another review as I smoke a cigar.

Dimensions: I'm guessing here. 5" x 48
Wrapper, binder and filler I truly do not know nor have the feel to dig up the info either. Beg yer pardon.

Pre-light:
Havingprobably seen better days, ye cannot really expect more (or at least I) from such an old cigar. Superb condition for it's age; regardless of the first impression.
With a wrapper that gives notes of cedar, earth, slight pepper and cinamon, this cigar is off to a gorgeous start. The foot of this double figurado is too small to truly appreciate anything from it, though.
A firm cut followed by an impressive draw on a cigar, nevermind it's age, gives sweetish toffee over earth, pepper and cedar notes.

Extraordinarily smooth flavour with deep toffee notes and even some flowery ones, something it's been a while since I've had (Those 2, not this exact profile). Also earth and cedar, with cinamon; leaving the pepper VERY behind. Overall I'm amazed at the deep, complex profile this cigar has. Tasty.
A few puffs into it and something new has appeared. Not sure what yet...almost coffee-like.

The smoke is rich and white, and, so far, the ash is gorgeous. White and solid. The smoke is rough on the eyes, though. VERY. Even gave me a lazy eye on the photo!

Cedar and earth take the lead, aspepper starts to make a statement; leaving the sweetness of it behind. All this merely leads one to the other; with fantastically married flavours.

A rock-solid ash an inch and a half so far; but considering the size, weight and AGE here, it is plain gorgeous.

A mellow cigar which is so easy to retrohale I canlet it all out through the nose. Earth, cedar and pepper still at the lead, but such a complex profile I worry I won't make any justice with this review.

Halfway through it and it still draws gorgeous, burns gorgeous, and tastes like so. Ash just fell (aprox. 2 1/2")

As it gets darker, the cigar gets deeper. With coffee, cedar and pepper notes mostly, it has kept me on me toes all the time! Thanks, Mitch!

As it nears its end, the cigar proves to still be in excelent shape and also a consistent one in all aspects. Never overwhelming I truly enjoyed it. Hope ye enjoyed the review!

By the way...given it being legal to U.S. citizens I was unsureon where to post this. Chuck, if ye think it's better off in the Habano review, could it be moved?

Updated. Although there seems to be less activity now than on the last ones so I'll just edit and leave it be.

Ah! The vicarious thrill of it all... Thanks, that was like like a trip down the old flavor time track.
Dylanesque: "Take me disappearing through the smoke rings of my mind."

That J'ne sais quoi character is Old Havana.
More opium-like than coffee-like, methinks. But don't go smoking opium to find out what it tastes like, it's rather bad for you, but does taste very flowery and very smooth.
Just take my word for it.
Made from poppies, ya' know.

You got any idea what a stick like that is worth? Although I never heard of Prinz H (but hey what do I know?), any pre-Fidel in good smoking condition is worth a small fortune. I remember a few years back a famous cigar-smoking radio personality mentioning that he smoked some early 1940 H. Upmanns with the guys and they were really good and the box cost $25,000. Whew.
Nice-looking little perfecto, too. Thanks for the trippy review. I eagerly await more such, though granted, that one will be a hard act to follow.

Moro, glad you enjoyed it, these old guy are often just like that, they just keep your attention until your fingers are burning on the nub. That cigar was made in Germany with Cuban Tobacco during the 1940's. To people who are intrested in old cigars check out Gotham Cigar Museum for a reliable vendor which is where I purchased the box of Prinz Heinreich's from. If you hunt and search you can find some real deals, when the stars align, I've purchased many Clear Havana's for under $5 per stick when I got lucky.

This must be a real noob question but 1940 means this cigar's from 1940s? Cigars last that long? How is this possible?!!

Well, I may perhaps made some of you chuckle with my dumb question but I couldn't help asking. My parents' books from 40s are withering away and I thought how could a cigar last this long.

Thanks for the review.
