  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

This cigar was gifted to my by Zen Cigar Man (Jamie) a few months back at Empire in Raleigh while we were talking about the Cusano 15th Anniversary Lancero. He told me this cigar was the original version and that they were produced in a very limited quantity of 17,400 back in 06-07 and that it was a much better cigar than the 15th. I enjoyed the 15th very much and was looking forward to trying this one. Having been travelling for work way too much lately this morning seemed like the perfect opportunity to sit and enjoy it. Each of these cigars were individually hand numbered and this particular one was 10,172 of the original 17,400. I hope you enjoy the review.

Pre-Light

The cigar appears to be very well made. It is firmly packed with no soft spots or appearant defects. It clipped easily enough with no cracking. The initial draw was perfect for me with just enough resisitance not to feel like a straw but not tight either. To me the pre-light flavors are sweet tobacco and graham crackers.

First 1/3

The cigar lit easily and the initial smoke output was incredible! It was very well balanced between the sweet flavors of the pre-light and enough pepper on the back of my mouth and tounge to let me know that it's not going to be a mild smoke. 1" in and the pepper has faded a bit but the burn and smoke output are are solid. The sweet flavors pair amazingly well with my Americano. I can tell already this is going to be an amazing cigar.

Middle 1/3

Starting into the middle 1/3 of the cigar and the flavor profile has changed a bitfrom the original sweet tobacco to more earthy flavors of hay and wood. The finish on this smoke is very long and there is still sweetness on the end of it. The pepper is still there as well with just enough to make my mouth tingle. The aroma of the smoke is extremely enjoyable as well.

Final 1/3

The strength of this cigar has been building slowly and is really starting to make itself known. The flavors have changed again and are now mainly Leather and charred wood. Sort of like the finish on an oak aged beer. Its really good. The draw and burn are stellar and the cigar has required no maintenance at all. With 2" to go the pepper has really made a return and is finishing great.

Final Thoughts

This was an incredible cigar from start to finish! I'm a huge lancero fan and I can easily say this is the best one I have ever had. I know these are going to be hard to find but I am going to do my best to hunt some more down for sure. If you are a lancero fan and are lucky enough to come arcoss any of these I would definitely grab them You wont be dissapointed.

Thanks for reading!!
