Ok...so this review ends quite sadly, but I'll give you guys what I can.
I thought I'd smoke one today in my father's memory. He passed away one year to this day.
Due to the weather holding up, and needing some 65% humidification beads (which my shop did not have), I thought I'd treat myself to a stick to accompany my girlfriend Liz and I along for the walk.
Not my hand of course
This cigar was a nice medium brown, with few veins. Good construction, not too spongy, but not a firm cigar either. Cut and lit right up.
Right from the start I get some nice pepper flavors, mixed with some woodiness (not cedar, but I can't place it) maybe pine? and a bit of coffee as well.
There was a nice, light sweet aroma emitting from it, which really was different from the actual taste.
As it burned deeper into the first third, I noticed the burn wasn't that great. I also noticed the ash was a mix between dark grey, and light grey throughout. Ash held alright, not flaky at all though which was good. The burn problem could have also been due to me walking while smoking. I've rarely found a cigar that burns well while on the move.
The second third replaced the spice and woodiness, with a nutty flavor that I really enjoyed. Also, all spice through the nose gave way for a creamy retro-hale during this portion.
Ok so here's the part that SUCKS
So I put my cigar down on the window sill outside of the Starbucks to grab a cup of coffee with Liz. Of course, I go for the manly drink (usually am a black coffee drinker, but wanted to try the special) and get a raspberry cappuccino. We pay, and leave the store, only to find this....
....
Yeah..someone took my cigar.
Ok so there's no third to review, and I didn't even get to keep the band (I keep a scrap book full of em).
Overall the cigar was REALLY enjoyable for what I had of it. I'll probably trade a brother for a fiver or a couple of them when the weather gets nicer, but now I've got a full humi and I can't smoke em fast enough.
It seems that I get a lot of similar flavor profiles throughout my reviews...maybe I've got to develop my pallet a bit more. Regardless of my new-ness to the cigar world, I'll keep putting out the reviews just cause it's a good way to keep track of what I liked, and to see my taste develop. Also, it gets me a little break from studying!!
I know it's incomplete, but I hope you guys enjoyed the review!
