  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I've been wanting to do a review on this stick for awhile, Today I was awarded with the US Navy Expert Pistol Medal and Rifle Marksman ribbon, so I figured it called for a celebration and a cigar worthy of the achievement. They were a limited release by Graycliff taking a note from the original proprietor of their estate in Nassau. The cigars were rolled without a form and have a very old world feel to them. They come 5 to a box and it works out to $30 per. This stick is massive. It feels like you are holding a zucchini. Its a dark chocolatey wrapper, very little veins and super oily. The shaggy foot is a very nice touch reserved for only their best lines.

Prelight draw was extremely clear and the cigar was a little spongy. The only thing I got was spice.

I lit the shaggy foot with a piece of cedar, it lit right up into an even burn, no issues even with the Hawaiian wind. First notes were a blast of spices producing tons of super creamy smoke, The ash appeared crystal white apart from the binder protruding from the foot and very very tight. Medium body and silky smooth.

1/3 into the cigar I began to pick up strong notes of cedar, spices, a sweetness, maybe honey. Possibly one of the creamiest cigars I've had. the first three inches of ash fell off and stayed in a very tight clump despite the long fall (about 18 inches). The binder ash looked almost black. They honey notes gave way to something reminiscent of dried fruit.

The final 1/3 gave way to a full body heavy spicy smoke. still putting out a huge plume of smoke at the lightest puff. Definite cedar, oak, pepper and leather. The sweeter notes have disappeared but still extremely smooth. Let her die out at the final inch.

I'd rate this cigar a 91. I will be saving the rest for extremely special occasions. This is a must buy. The experience alone is worth it even if you are not typically a fan of Graycliff.

I've seen the Graycliff brand in my travels but haven't smoked one, nor have I ever read a review. Similarly I've read about creamy smokes but haven't experienced one. Non-complex cream appeals, complex moreso. Thanks for affirming for me that taste inclination. Great review!
