BoM August 2010/2011
As I mentioned in the JG Limited Edition review, each box contains one JG Limited Edition cigar with a Connecticut wrapper. It is supposed to be a preview of the 2012 Limited Edition. I am uncertain as to if it is just a switch in the wrapper, or if there is a difference in the blend. I will see what I can find out at the launch event next week.
The natural version has a smooth, tan/orange wrapper. There are some minor veins, but the cigar is very well constructed, from the seams to the cap. It measures 6 1/2 x 52.
Before lighting, the cigar has a strong pepper mixed with a leafy tobacco taste. Definitely seems like it will have a strong start to its burn. Once lit, the first third did indeed have a strong pepper and oak flavor. Cinnamon mixed within, and because of the strength of the pepper, it made it seem a little like red hots. There was also an underlying creaminess to the smoke. The burn, like the 2011 LE from the same box, was a little wavy, and produced a fairly white ash. Definitely seems to be that they could be just a little wet.
The middle third of the JGLE Natural still had strong pepper, but it had toned down from the first third. The underlying creaminess was also still there. The main flavors were light oak, cinnamon and cashew. The ash started to get a little flaky, while the burn stayed true.
The remaining third had a dominant oak flavor. The pepper had pretty much calmed down. To balance out the oak, the was a slight creaminess from cashew, and some cinnamon spice. As you can see below, the ash indeed became flaky, and has the appearance like it could indeed be a little wet.
A very enjoyable cigar. One that I hope stays true to this preview release once it is out next year. With the strength of pepper through the first and second thirds, it will be interesting to see how this one ages. It could do very well.
If it is the same blend, only a change in wrapper...it made it a quicker smoke. This one lasted 1:45 for me.
