The Jaime Garcia Limited Edition brought us a special preview cigar, which featured an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper. The maduro version is a very good cigar, but in my opinion, the connie version was incredible. Well, Rick Gadway got Jaime to produce a special cigar for Federal Cigar's 91st Anniversary this year, a MF Le Bijou 1922 in a cervantes size. A small number of boxes were made using the Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, and were a big hit as well. Based on that success, Rick went a couple steps further and got Jaime to make him both the Corona Gorda and the Petit Robusto using the same Connecticut wrapper. These recently hit Federal Cigar, along with a new batch of the Cervantes size.
I was given samples of each size to smoke and review for BOTL. I was recommended by Speedbump to smoke the Petit Robusto first. I have always said that the CG size is my favorite overall. The Lonsdale and Petit Robusto sizes are a hard to split second and third for me. This Petit Robusto has set a high standard, and it will be interesting to see if the CG can compete with it. Thanks for the samples, Rick and Federal Cigar!
