  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I am trying to decide which robusto to get a box of. I have had the RASS, and party serie d no.4. Both are delicious. How do the Cohiba and Trinidad robusto t stand up?

IMHO, Cohibas are variable & overrated. Original release Trini Ts quite good, but expensive. I've heard later ones not as good, but only smoked the original release. 2012 Bolivar RCs have been quite impressive. Stronger than usual with an earthy flavor.

I personally think the BRC is the cream of the crop, however they were my first ever CC and I have a special love for them. Also, although not regular production the other night I had the PL Robusto RE Asia from 2007 (they are still readily available 6400 boxes were produced) and it was outstanding.

Some good insight on a cigar you didn't inquire about (BRC)...but it does fit in w/ the title of your thread.

I had the same question a couple years ago, and believe the info is still relevant: http://www.botl.org/community/forum...le-Round-Deux-CoRo-vs-Trini-Robo-T?highlight=

If the RASS and PSD4 are your preference b/c you like fuller smokes, then the CoRo is most likely the way you'd wanna go. Or the BRC as others have mentioned, as it's a fraction of the price of either the CoRo or Trini. The Trini T is different than all mentioned IMO. Much more mild (right at/under medium) and refined....yet still a fantastic smoke. Not a 2nd or 3rd cigar of the day smoke however, but certainly a great choice as a 1st smoke of the day.

Seems like people either love the CoRo, or not so much because the price tag doesn't equal their enjoyment of the cigar. I personally love the CoRo and is the cigar I have the most of... I have numerous boxes for aging purposes as I think you truly get the best out of Cohiba with a few years+ on them. I'm not a big fan of Trini T's, but will take pretty much any other Robusto... they are all different, your best bet is to try as many as you can and go from there. :)

As with a few people above, I am a BIG fan of BRC's and if you don't have a box, that is where I'd go.

What have not been mentioned is JL2's, which I think are underrated. I seem to enjoy those as much as PSD4's or RASS.....depends on the day I guess.

I also have some fairly recent('11's I think) ERDM Choix that I really like......& Connie 1's.... Oh how I love cigars....

I haven't tried the Trinidad but I think the BRC is better than the PSD4 and CoRo, as good as RASS(although COMPLETELY different). I find the BRC to be the most complex...RASS is the most flavorful(in my opinion).

JL2s with some age on them for me.
I haven't tried the JL2 itself but JL is one of my favorite marcas, they age gracefully!

RyJ Short Churchill is on my list of top Robustos, same with the CoRo, and Tubed PSD 4's. But one of the cigars that I think is extremely underated and one of my top all time smokes is the Vegas Robaina Famosos. It is a robusto sized cigar with mad aging potential ! I cannot recommend those enough, but that is my tastes, take it with a grain of salt. HdM Epicure No.2 is a good one as well if you are interested in the spicy (gingerbread-like) flavours. I like them for something refreshing and different.
