  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Had one last night. Overall a pretty good cigar that gets better as you smoke it.

THe burn was perfect and consistent. I did have to relight it once because i was doing laundry.

The first half is a very woodsy, spicy taste, with a hint of what I believe to be leather. Its not super strong, but it seemed to remind me of the Padron 1964 Annivery Series. That is definatly a good thing.

The second half got very creamy and every now and then I got the taste of black coffee, and the very next puff it would be woodsy taste. That was pretty impresive. Hard to tell if the coffee taste was because of what I was drinking though (cocktail with Kahlua, Creme de Cacoa, and milk).

The aroma wasn't anything impressive though. Smelled tabaccoy and was very lingering.

I would have to give it a 8.5/10. Its not something I would buy a box of, but I would definatly have another. Might be better yet with some aging.

I've had on of these hanging out in my humi for a little while. I'm debating on if I want to try it or not.

I'm told they get better the longer they sit, too. I liked the one I had, though it didn't blow me away, but it's tough to judge a cigar based on 1 stick.

I'm not very big into RP's to begin with. His 90 & 92 stick are good, but aside from those two there's not much I'd want to smoke from him. But I did want to try out the decade stick I have.

i've had one of the RP decade torpedos. really enjoyed it and had several people commenting on how good it smelled, for what that's worth.

anyhow, got another that's been laying down for aobut 6 months now and i'm itching to light it up. hopefully it will be as good as the first.

this is the only Patel I like. All the other ones I've had I was only able to smoke a quarter of it. The Edge was horrible. I picked it up just to try it because it was in the top 25 from CA. This one is pretty good. Like I said, it reminded me slightly of a Padron. THe flavor was not as smooth as the Padron though.

With all this talk about this stick I decided to take mine out of my humi tonight & light it on fire. The RP Decade was not quite as full as I would have liked, but it was a real good smoke. I had excellent draw from start to finish. The ash stayed together nicely for almost an inch before it fell. It tasted of leather with some nice spice. It paired wonderfully with my coffee. I did have two people tell me the smell of it was horrible. But neither was very into cigars. I nubed it & took on last puff before I let it burn out to it's death. I'm not sure if I'd buy one again, but this stick is one you should try. If it was offered to me I'd burn another one up.

in the last 1/2 did you taste some big hits of coffee in it like I did? I also tasted wood more than leather toward the end.

IMHO - The Decade is the best RP, period.

BUT... as with so many of his cigars, I've had unreliability... I mean, one stick hit's the spot... then I try to do it agan & it's awfull... WTF? This has happened with every RP stick I've had... Sometimes they're great, sometimes they're turds w/ bands. Am I doing something wrong?

I'll still take the gamble once in a while, but when I want a 'sure' thing... I reach for something else.

Ya I definitely got some ceder in there. And I tasted coffee. I thought that the taste of the coffee may have been due to my big cup I had with the stick.
