Rocky Patel Edge Missile Maduro
Weighing in at 5×48, The Edge is available in both maduro and corojo wrappers.
These now sport a band on the foot because some retailers were, passing bundles off as these when they were out-of-stock.
So take that bit of information with the same grain of salt that goes with any he-said, she-said information.
Here is a photo:
Pre light the wrapper appeared dark and oily, one vein running the length of the cigar.
It's a pretty firm and solid cigar, only a couple of small spaces had much to press. However, even being firm, it did not seem
tight, not sure why, the predraw seemed ok.
The snip was clean, and the wrapper held fine. Lighting it was easy, it lit quickly and evenly using 2 matches held together.
The first few draws deliver a nice, earthy flavor with with a leather tone, and some maduro sweetness
The burn was faily even, not perfect, leaving behind a light-gray and strong ash.
As the cigar continued, the sweetness seemed to slowly be replaced with more rich earthiness... making it feel like a real man's cigar.
Something about the whole cigar felt very manly.
I was smoking on the drive, and did not have any burn issues until somewhere in the final third, when it kind of canoed a little, but
was able to repair itself with a quick toast to the slow end. While driving can't fiddle with it too much you know.
The cigar was a bit harsh at time, certainly very full, it released a very nice amount of failry thick smoke.
Considering I paid less than 5$ for this cigar, I thought it was a very decent purchase. Not sure it's one of my favorites, however
it was a very pleasant and enjoyable, relaxing smoke, good bang for the buck.
The cigar lasted about 75-85 minutes. With the weather last night it turned out to be perfect in the slow moving traffic and I had
just gotten to the nub when I was pulling up to my drive way.
I would consider getting a few of these to have around, certainly for the price, I felt they it was a worthy cigar. I wouldn't pay much
more for it becuase at times it was a little too harsh, and sometimes I felt sacrifising an "edgy" feel for the sake of flavor, not sure
means anything, but that's what came to mind, so tough luck.
