  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I received two of these in my DWCC monthly shipment and smoked one of them this morning before starting my 16 hour shift at work.

Rocky makes many fine cigars, most of which have full flavor/ medium to full body. This is another good example of a complex flavored, full bodied cigar. There are 7 cigar sizes in the Sun Grown line, this one being 6 1/2" x 52. This cigar is made up a 7 year Domician and Nigaraugan leaf with a 5 year old Ecadorean Sumatra sun grown wrapper.

Pre light inspection of this cigar is a nice dark wrapper with good toothiness and nice oily sheen. GO figure, since this is a sun grown wrapper. Scents of spice exude from this one, as does hints of dark roasted coffee or Expresso. There is a mild sweet taste upon touch on the tongue prior to lighting. No problems with the wrapper on inspection. Nice firm, but springy cigar. Pre light draw was good, with just the right amout of restriction.

After cutting this with my Palio and toasting this cigar, i had no problem lighting this cigar. It sprung to life with good blue/grey smoke. Pepper immediately came through on this cigar, as did the coffee, cedar and earthy taste. No burn issues in the first third of the cigar. It also had a buttery taste which was very pleasant.

Second third was much like the first part, continuing with pepper. In fact, the pepper seemed to increase as this cigar was being smoked. Hints of sweetness started coming through with a hint of black licorice at times. It was not overpowering and a nice change. Still no draw or burn issues. Nice finish and several of my workers commented on the great aroma the cigar provided.

Final third of the cigar continued to display pepper. A sweetness began coming through more regularly; caramel. Licorice also came through a few more times. Was not overpowering at all. No harsh after taste and the finsih was nice. Only had to correct the burn once during the entire time I smoked this cigar, which lasted about 1 hour 20 minutes. Only a minor heat problem, caused by me trying to finish up this cigar at the end.

Overall, this was a good cigar. Great draw, great burn, great taste. On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate this at a 9.1. This is a cigar that I look forward to smoking many, many more times. I loved the full body, full complex flavors this cigar provided me with.

Hope you enjoy this review!

Good review bill. I've got one laying that i've been interested to try at some point.

I'm sure by the time i actually get to it, it'll be primed and ready.

Bill I like your reviews. This one sounds great. And that's one of problems. Every damn time I get on this board I end up putting yet another stick on my list to try. I have liked the RPs I have had so far. This one is next. Guess I'll have to move up from 1-2 a week to maybe 3-4. Damn!, sounds like I need some overtime pay for it.
