  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

This 5.5×50 medium tan stick offers a firm, dense pack under smooth wrapper with minimal veins and a triple cap. Starting off very bitter, the first third was a dry, slightly bitter almond, fading quickly to a finish of an oily oak with hints of pepper zing. By the 2nd third flavors transitioned to a mild-medium roasted nut and oily toast with a longer finish. At the half way point it became a typical connecticut with dry toasty, nutty, woody flavors and a long dry finish. Body was medium, smoke output was fantastic, as was the burn and draw all the way down, typical of a Rocky Patel.

Thanx for the Review Bryan! I dont smoke too many Connecticut wrapped cigars, but this may sound like one to try. Ive recently noticed a bitterness on several RP's that Ive smoked lately. Interesting that you noted that in this stick.

Smoked one of these that came in a sampler not too long ago, and I also noticed the bitter taste. I didn't really like it when I first lit it up, but the longer I smoked it the better it got. I'd smoke another, but I'm not going to look for any to buy anytime soon.

I like Conneticut wrappers, but the one of these I had was really bitter adn yucky. Was my last straw with Rocky P. I have trouble clipping and lighting any Rockys now. The Summer blend was OK.

In my experience, with some age most of the Rocky's loose any bitterness (yes, I've noticed it too), except the Vintage '90, but I much prefer the '92 anyway.

Good looking cigar in that shot.

I am curious; whenever a year is assigned to a cigar (such as this "1999 vintage" or others I have seen like "1998 limited edition") does this mean the tobacco was harvested in the actual year indicated? Or does that mean the blend was first established in that year and later harvests of the same type of leaf are combined again in the same manner, in order to reproduce that original year's special cigar?

IN this case NO. It was most likely to commemorate an occasion. Certainly RP is not using 20 year old baccy in the the Vintage 1990.
