Ronson lighters

Just picked up two ronson lighters after seeing people talk about them on the board. This is a great lighter for $4 each. I am putting on in my car and one for home. I highly recommend!

I have the one on the left for about 3yrs now. It just works and works, unlike some of the other expensive lighters that I've had in the past.

I like the ronson, but the lid gets in the way! They do run forever, but they are designed poorly! If it wasn't for that design flaw it would be an excellent lighter!

I did drain the butane that was in it so I could put my own in. It was a simple inexpensive step that eases my mind.

Maybe I've been lucky, but I've never had one light poorly straight out of the package. I usually just burn 'em dry and then refill with whatever I'm using at the time. It's always intrigued me too. The Ronson butane is junk (I tried it once despite others saying it's junk...live and learn), but you'd think that's what they would fill them with from the factory...right?

I've got 5 of them in my rotation and couldn't be happier with em.

For $2.87 each at Wally-Mart how can you go wrong? Cheap as dirt and work like a charm!!!

Used them for many years. Now I use mostly dual and triple flame lighters, so they aren't in regular rotation. However, since their price makes them 'disposable', I usually take one in my carry-on when I fly. I've got a little better than 50% rate getting them through security. I've still got a lot of them around the house - I'd grabbed a dozen or more when it looked like Wallyworld was dropping them a few years ago. And, I got a dozen of the old softer flame model for under $20 from a disreputable daily deal site a while back. I like those because I've been able to convince more than a couple TSA agents that they weren't really a torch and it'd be OK to let me hang onto them.

your point about travel is pretty good Dave...

I cringe every time I put one of my colibri or xikar lighters into my check bag.. hoping they dont get stolen.. or the bag doesnt get lost.. etc.. so more often than not, I just use matches while traveling.. or throw a cheap bic into my bag.. and deal with it...

at $4... I can pick up a dozen of these for the price of one of my "nice" torches.. and not worry about it again..

I think I might head to CVS or wallyworld today and see whats on the shelf!

Neglected to mention my recent success has been with plastic single flame torche like the Vertigo from CI. I think it was about $8 on cbid. May be because its plastic, but I haven't had it pulled from carry-on for 8 consecutive flights over past couple months.

I would check your local Wal-Mart (if you have one), they're cheaper there. But even at $4.95 they're a great deal.

I love mine, $3.98 at Walmart, just wish they had the smooth variety to choose from. On Amazon, they can be had for upwards of $9.

Great lighter at a great price. Just put one through the wash and it still works.

I bought 12 of them about 3 years ago....still using the first one if that tells ya anything. This sucker has been through the washer 3 times and still lights like new. Now if you want to entertain the new Ronson they have out....the soft flame refillable called the Comet...I love it. They cost $1 so I bought another dozen of them and I've been using the first one and it works like clockwork and has an adjustable flame that does the job...plus you can travel with it and not worry about somebody taking it and even if they did...it's still cheaper than a Bic...and a Bic isn't refillable. I found mine at CVS and every time I go in there they have a rack full of them...just like Disneyland for me.

Once you get the "lighter bug" you will have so many of them. At last count I have about 50 of them of various kinds...single torch, double, triple, quad....it's a sickness I tell you. It's funny because it seems the cheaper they are the better I like em and the one post I saw from you about the SPARK I've seen at WW as well. I'd buy it if it wasn't so darn long and riding around on my motorcycle with something that long just spells disaster.

I'm right with ya! I just think dropping a bunch of $$ on a lighter is stupid when a Ronson does just fine. JMO.

I have a couple of these in my travel rotation as well. They work great for the price of about $3 each.

I went into a B&M this week in the Akron, OH area and the shop had them for $15.99 each in a basket right by the cash the register!

Talk about a heavy markup.... I couldn't bring myself to buy a stick with an avg delta of $2+/stick that I usually see, much less a lighter marked up at 3x the norm.
