  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Picked this unbanded sample up from Matt Booth at the show. It's a 4x48ish sample of the new line, had a cool little box with 50 4x42 on display. Very nice constuction, nice natural looking wrapper with a few small veins to it. Namakubi translates as "freshly severed head", so I clipped this little mixed origin Habano wrapper, Honduran binder and Dominican Honduran Filler cigar and first notice the draw is a little on the tight side, which I prefer on something this size. Hit pre-light with a florally spice, so far so good. Time to set fire.

Picking up a cedary, floral taste with a bit of citrus, drawing pretty good with a nice slow burn. Kind of a medium body to it and seems it will develop pretty good towards a full body smoke once it opens up a bit. Producing a nice think amount of smoke right off the bat.

As I get in the second third of this it really settles a bit in strength and cedar is really hitting the sides of the tongue. Reminds me a bit of the 08 Liberty I smoked a couple weeks ago, just a little more full bodied. Burn is solid and still draw is really good. Not overly complex but some good flavor to it. Ash held for a good inch or so before dropping.

Had a nice flavor to me and never really got much past medium body, just picking up a little bit in the end. The flavor did "fade" a little bit on me with the citrus coming back and the cedar dwindling a bit. Smoke stayed nice and thick the entire time and smoke perfectly as far as burn/draw goes.

I have to say this was an enjoyable cigar, I tend to smoke a lot of medium and full strength sticks and a lot of them have a peppery profile I like. This cigar is a nice change of pace, while still being pretty medium strength and had a good flavor to it. The finish was medium to this little guy, definitely pick these up in the smaller size for a nice quick morning/lunch time smoke.

Thank for the review/Pics Mac! I really didn't care for the last 101 cigar I had so I really didn't even give the new release any thoughts.
Who knows...I may try one of these afterall.
