  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I have been wanting to get to this cigar for a while now and a few days ago my son was really wanting to go ride his bike so I relented, grabbed my cutter & lighter, packed up my daughter in the stroller and away we went.

First off the packaging for this cigar is elaborate. It's tissue wrapped and then stuffed in this Myan/Aztec skull design. Undressing it reveals a downright gorgeous cigar with a simple and classy band. Really the cigar doesn't need the tissue and elaborate design covering it. To me it speaks on its own with just the band.

The prelight aroma was a nice peppery, spicy, tobacco. Cap clipped fine, with a slightly tight draw (normal in my experience for perfecto shaped cigars). Prelight draw was a little sweetness, some pepper, and a light woodiness. Lighting it up there wasn't a whole lot of flavor as the cigar burned through the nipple at the foot. Once it started coming to life there was an initial charred sweetness and some pepper. Then wham...savory steak. Yep. It's not so much a full on "man this tastes like steak", but more of a every time I took a puff I had an almost overwhelming hankoring for a thick, juicy, corn fed, slightly pink cored hunk o' beef. With a side of sweet potato fries. Even now I'm making myself hungry. To round it out there were some fleeting spicy and woody flavors/aromas floating in the background which became more prominant in the last third or so of the cigar. Burn was a little lopsided, but taking into account the breeze it wasn't at all bad and the ash held for miles. Would I buy this again? Abso-freakin-loutely.

Nice review. I always liked the OSOK line. And that size is one of my favorites.

Great review, Dan! Still haven't tried an OSOK, but I'm loving the Daruma so I'm going to have to check them out.
