Got this in a sampler pack from Fuller's Pullers. This is what the website says about this cigar. Produced by La Tradición Cubana, this line of cigars boasts a natural, sun-grown Brazilian Maduro wrapper. No treatments or other means are used to achieve the near-black leaf.
Beneath this smooth, black wrapper, is a double filler of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos, expertly blended to create a unique "taste of Cuba."
Sabor Cubano Cigars smoke slow with a dark gray ash. Earthy flavors with spicy notes develop gradually as the strength intensifies. Master Blender Luis Sanchez really appeals to the experienced smoker with this cigar.
Here is my review. Prelight inspection shows this is a dark wrapper with minor veins. Only one small noticable vein which did not detract from the look of the cigar. Definite spice to the nose from the cigar and earthiness on the foot. Taste of mild black pepper and dark chocolate. Pre light draw was good, but had a little resistance. To me, if seemed the right amount.
After toasting this one, the draw was good and burn was very even for the first half. Spice continued to shine through on this one with pepper, leather, chocolate and a slight hint of burnt coffee. As I hit the second half, this cigar got more spice which made this cigar taste even better. No foul aftertaste anytime during this cigar. The wrapper had a slight split 1 1/2" from the crown, which never got bigger, nor did it ruin the smoke. Slight unraveling at the cut point, probably caused by my holding the cigar in my mouth more than I should have.
THis cigar continued to smoke very well and was a nice change. Not super overpowering, but definite full flavored and complex in taste. Hints of a woody/earthy mixture kept coming through with the spice.
Overall, this was a good cigar. Nor one that will change your lifetime, but a good valued, everyday smoke. Good finish, good taste, well made. It is about a $4 per stick cigar. On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate this one at a 7. I have had alot of great cigars, but this one was good.
SInce smoking this one, I have tried two others in the line, a Corona Gordo, 6 X52 and the Robusto 5 X50. The robusto and the petit torpedo had the best flavor to me. I am buying more of each size for a quiver of everyday stuff.
Hope the review helps.
