Drew Estate NotRex
This is one of my absolute favorite smokes. It was recommended by a buddy of mine (Mythsmoker) and soon became scarce after I nabbed them all up.
Pre-light:
On pre-light draw I get notes of cocoa and cedar. The wrapper is dark and has few viens in it. The cap is well placed and the construction is good. The cigar is firm yet slightly spongy to the touch.
First Third:
On first light the draw is good. Its not to hard or easy on the pull. The first quarter inch is pepper and cocoa. The pepper soon lightens up and becomes a good balance between those two flavors. The burn is good and is staying even.
Second Third:
The pepper has almost completely backed off. The cocoa is the predominant flavor and I am now getting a very slight hint of coffee and cedar. Its very good. The transition was almost immediate. This is where this stick really hits its stride with me.
Final Third:
The cedar has now bumped up a notch and is now the dominant flavor along with the cocoa. The coffee has now taken a back seat for the rest of the ride. The balance is still amazing and the burn is still consistent.
Final Thoughts:
At first light you might think this is going to be a pepper bomb but it isn't. It is nice to have a smoke that backs off and gets nice and mellow towards the end. This really is the way I prefer a smoke to be. I would say that this smoke started off to be a medium to full body and toward the final third has become a nice medium body. I could literally smoke these every day.
