  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Beautifully constructed Nicaraguan Puro with a dark chocolate brown wrapper with few veins and a bit of tooth measuring around 6'x52 courtesy of Patrick.

I lit this bad boy with a few cedar sticks and it took off giving me a great burst of spice I initially thought was pepper and cedar but kept thinking there was something else to it which I just couldn't nail down. Either way it was a joy to light up and I thoroughly enjoyed the cedar/pepper mixed in with a bit of cocoa with lots of smoke.

The ash was a beautiful, solid grey which held firmly for the first inch and a half

Towards the end of the first third and begining of the second third the spice seemed to have given way to cocoa, dark chocolate and a hint of leather and some how the smoke seemed to have diminished.

As the last third started the flavour was the standard cocoa, dark chocolate mixed in with a bit of leather and it felt like this is how the it would smoke to the end. I was enjoying the smoke but was missing the spice it had blasted me to begin with and to be honest was getting a bit bored and thinking of putting it down when the spice started creeping back in.

Around this point I was delighted with the smoke though I wished it produced more smoke. I could taste cedar and pepper around the sides of my tongue but hoped it would produce more smoke.

As I smoked it further the smoke increased in volume to my delight and I tasted a sweet caramel coating around my mouth as the tip of my tongue delighted in the spice on offer.

I nubbed this bad boy till my fingers burnt.

Overall I really enjoyed this smoke other than the little period where the smoke diminished in volume and it became some what a standard smoke and wouldn't hesitate to smoke another.

Appearance:12/15
Burn: 8/10 (it seemed to cannoe a bit from time to time but corrected itself without any touch ups on my part)
Ash: 8/10
Smoke: 7/10
Uniqueness: 6/10
Draw:7/10 (good clean draw other than the period between the second third and midway between the last third when I started suspecting it was either plugged or tar had accumulated)
Flavour Blend: 15/20
Finish: 12/15

Final Score: 75

Much better stick than the score implies.

Very nice review Daniyal, I smoke a LOT of these in all vitolas and find that I get a larger than normal amount of them compared to other smokes that don't produce enough smoke for my taste. Still I go back as I enjoy the cigar.
