I wasn't 100% sure what to expect from this cigar since I was a bit disappointed by the original 3 sizes that were released last year. The Petite Robusto size has slowly crept to #2 on my preferences (behind the Corona Gorda) so I was eager to give it a try. I paired the cigar with water and it was my first cigar of the day.
I will start off by saying that the construction, burn, and draw were all what you would expect from a Pepin-made cigar. The ash was probably the whitest I have ever seen. This is the cigar I wanted from last year's release. The pepper and spice picked up from the start and lasted throughout the cigar with wood/nut undertones. I'd classify it more on the medium-full side.
I noticed a flowery aroma to the smoke that was also commented on by my wife as she was sitting next to me. Not to the extent of an infused cigar but still there. After doing a search of other reviews of the Del Sol from last year it seems that others have noticed this as well.
The cigar took roughly 55 minutes to smoke. If I had to give it a score it would be in the 89-91 range. I tend to lean towards fuller-bodied cigars but could see this as a good change of pace cigar.
I believe this is priced around $7.50.
