  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Size: 5" x 52 Box Press
Wrapper: San Andres Maduro
Binder: Honduran (some sources say Honduran & Dominican and one said Nicaraguan...you're guess is as good as mine)
Filler: Nicaraguan & Honduran
Price: ~ $5-6

I've been looking forward to this cigar for a while, but everytime I put it in the travel humidor or was rummaging for a smoke I never seemed to pull the trigger. So after lunch yesterday I pulled it out and took a seat on the deck.

Visually this cigar is sexy. No other way to say it. Mouthwatering. I tried to clip a little shallower than usual (that whole box press thing), but still ended up with a draw on the loose side. Cold draw had a wonderful dark chocolate mocha thing going on. Fired it up with a few matches and had a great start. Little earth, chocolate/mocha, and a roasty finish. The finish started to get a bit harsh after the first third and contniued that way for the rest of the cigar. Required several touch ups which got a little annoying. Overall it was only okay. If the finish hadn't been harsh (it wasn't immediately off putting, but the more I smoked it, the more I disliked the flavor) and hadn't required as many touch ups I'd have really liked it. Definitely a candidate for revisiting.

I love the shape of these and the way they smoke. The oval shape is the perfect shape for a cigar. The draw on the couple that I smoked was fantastic and I wondered if the oval had anything to do with it or if it was just well-made in general - or both. Nice review

I'm wondering about the sweetness on it with the chocolate/mocha compared to say, Perdomo Maduros? I usually get a sweetness with those. Sounds delicious! Thanks for sharing!
