A condition called "scromiting" — a combination of screaming and vomiting — is increasingly sending habitual marijuana users to emergency rooms nationwide.

The medical name for this condition is Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome. Patients, including teenagers, arrive at hospitals with severe stomach pain and uncontrollable vomiting episodes.

In a peculiar attempt at self-treatment, patients often take scalding hot showers to find relief from their symptoms.
Emergency room visits for teens with this condition increased more than 10-fold between 2016 and 2023, highlighting the growing prevalence of Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome.

Experts believe the condition may be connected to today's more potent marijuana products, which contain higher concentrations of active compounds than previous generations of cannabis.

Adding to the mystery, not all heavy marijuana users develop Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome.

Medical experts have not yet determined what factors predispose certain individuals to this condition, while others remain unaffected.

I have never heard of this happing till I read the article, I know that weed is a shit load stronger then before 6% to 8% before now 20% to 30%. But I know guys that use edibles where a normal dose is 5ml and they are doing 50ml at a time all day and no scromiting!

As much good stuff I smoked over the years I guess I’m immune. Now if I take a small puff I’m in outer space. I don’t know. I think some of those people that this stuff happens to smoke from the time their eyes open. It is crazy though.

I remember when White Widow hit the scene here in the the late 1990s. It was considered so potent that a lot of long time smokers wouldn't even touch it. Now, it is considered low grade at 15%. There is no way I would try smoking again with the stuff these folks are pushing.

I have tried some of the new stuff, I got some that was 18%. This stuff is one or two hits and your done back in the 80's I was considered a heavy smoker, every day 3 or 4 joints min. for like 10 years Funny when I stopped people would ask me what's wrong, I would say why? I have never seen your eyes not red
