it's spelled sfogliatelle, and in these parts it's pronounced sfew-ya- dels. This is a bastardized pronunciation of the word, and in Italy they would have no clue as to what that even means. (kind of like muzadel vs mozzarella, or galamad vs calamari)


In Italy it would be pronounced sfo yee a tella

they have a ricotta filling and are clam shaped.

lobster tails are similar, but have a french cream in the inside, and are shaped longer, like a lobster tail. These are an american spinoff of sfogliatella.
