  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Just got an email from one of my overseas vendors that ALL shipments of cigars to the US are suspended at this time.

Reason was given that there are some Tariff questions, and their implementation is not currently clear.

This includes CC and Non CCs.

I believe this is just cigar retailers selling to end users and does not affect cigar companies importing cigars as part of their normal course of business.

The president recently suspended the “de minimus” exemption that allows products with a value of less than $800 to come into the country duty free. Those items are now subject to tariffs/ taxes. Unfortunately most foreign postal services and shipping companies do not have a process in place to collect those taxes on shipments going to individual consumers. BTW, I received this same email from both ihavanas and puro express.

Cigar companies like Fuente, crowned heads, etc. are bringing things in by the pallet and already have a process in place for that. Wholesale cigar companies work with a customs broker who files the paperwork and collects the import duties on the product coming in. Individual consumers have been exempt from that (until now)
