  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

My first bomb from shuckins had a cigar with out a band on it. So I figured I would smoke it and try to figure out what stick it was. He gave me his review...

here's a hint/review:

a moist, dense, earthy taste with a very slow burn and slight bite. They’re puros made of Nicaraguan long leaf fillers and wrappers. Medium-bodied with a robust and heavy, rich-sweet taste.

looking forward to hearing your opinion...
And here is mine:

Size: Unknown. Length was about 5in but I did not measure ring size.
Appearance: some veins medium brown
Construction: perfect
Drink:cold Ice Mountain water
Weather/atmosphere: comfortable temp, sunny, slight breeze, smell of my neighbors
freshly cut grass in the air
draw: perfect, not too loose or too tight
First puff: Very earthy

First inch: earthy pepper with a rich sweet after taste. (I usually don't like spicy but drinking water washed away the over powering spice and after the first few draws the pepper mellowed a little bit.)

First third: rich strong pepper earthiness

Second third: Same as first with less pepper. Buzz from the sugars in the leaf. A little bite so I smoked it real slow.

Last third: Less pepper. It was kind of like a flat pop towards the end the pepper is gone. Smooth earth taste. Buzzed. This one has the nicotine in it.

Smoke appearance: Thick, easily drawn. great for smoke rings.
Ash: lose flaky. Crumbled.
.........................................................

I loved this smoke. The buzz was a little strong but it was tasty. I am guessing it is a Tatuaje Series P2. Second guess is an Angeles. Both surprisingly cheap according to Moro's guide.

oh yes I forgot that part. I lit the cigar with matches so I think that might have thrown it off a little. The cherry didn't light on the entire but of the cigar just the center but it did not have an effect on the experience just the look. Corrected itself.

Hmmm.... sounds like a good stick.

I have passed them over a dozen times at least... I was honestly a bit put off by the price... second guessingthat now.

Brett - thanks for the review.

I just had The robusto that Shuckins sent me last night and It was really really nice. I wish I had more room in my Humi so I could pick some of these up...!

Same here; passed them up several times. Had a wheel in my shopping cart last time I was at CI and passed mostly due to space.

... I will be rectifying that next time.

Can anyone doubt that Nicaraguan tobacco is seriously back to pre Sandanista dominance? The last vitola I smoked from a Perdomo fresh rolled was a torp, which was pretty good, what's the consensus as far as the best size for these? Considering the size of the wheel I'd obviously prefer to pick up the best tasting.
