  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Illusione ECCJ

I kinda lucked up on some boxes of ECCJ so i had to grab them! I know that
i'm known for doing long very detailed reviews, but i smoked this at a friends
last night, and the conversation was shall we say "very adult"! The last
thing i was thinking about was finding a pen and paper to do a review at
1:00am in the morning! I didn't take any pics!

Size: 5 5/8 X 46
Wrapper: Nicaragua
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua

MSRP: 9 but good luck finding them anywhere!:hanghead:

Appearance & Construction: The wrapper looks like roasted acorns. The wrapper is seamless,
but there are some light veins, and a little tooth to it as well. It has a slight heft to it
due to it being very well packed. This is a very firm stick with virtually no give to it.

Prelight Draw: Nut's, Clean Tobacco, Light Spice. The Draw was very slightly
resistant. Perfect!!!

1st 3rd: This stick is a Flavor Bomb!. I lit the foot and Got smacked in the face with white pepper and
espresso. The espresso would last all the way
through this one, and it mixed with other nuances such as cream, and leather
in the first 3rd. It's producing tons of clean smoke! No oil on the finish. (Just espresso!):eyebrow:

2nd 3rd: The full flavored medium body experience continues, in this part cream is introduced
for the first time! It blends very well with the espresso ala cafe au lait, but soon after, leather,
and get this burnt caramel! This was a first for me and it is very enjoyable. Every now and
then roasted nut's would show it's head and then disappear. I guess groundhog's day must be
around the corner! This stogie is still producing volumes of smoke! So much that i'm getting
a lot of coffee and leather in the nose.

Final 3rd: I can only assume that all of the retrohale is taking it's toll and i'm now getting a
medium-full body experience! This stick has kicked it up a notch!Notes of leather, espresso,
burnt caramel, cream, and now roasted almond are beautifully intertwined.
The finish was a very rich espresso. I can't wait to smoke another one!

I think you were spot on with the profile of that cigar in your review. Thanks for the review from a wonderful cigar.

Thanks for the review, bro! I have a couple of these given by generous brothers, but have been saving them. I don't think that's going to last much longer now, lol.

Have you smoked an Eperanay? I hear these are similar and I'm wondering what your take is.

Excellant review "E"....one of my all time Illusione favorites.

Nate, Dion says the exact same thing about the ECCJ and Eperanay, I always thought that the ECCJ had a little more flavor and strength. Both are excellant smokes in my book.

Im curious patrick, in what way?
To be honest I don't remember. It's been a while. I smoked 3 or 4 and I just wasn't overly enthralled by the flavor profile. I ended up gifting most of them out to my friends who wanted to try them. I do like the Epernay however and it's supposedly based on the same blend. So I don't know what that says about my palate.. lol

Well judging by those boxes you sent me for the humi... You're no punk when
it comes to the strong stuff!:eyepoke: I think it's truly your mileage may vary....

Have you ever smoked a Benchmade (Ashton Value stick, Pepin Made)... That
has a strong espresso flavor profile as well... espresso and burnt wood....

Wonder what your take is on those?

Nate i have the Corona Gorda Epernay, but haven't smoked it yet.
I'll have to go digging to do so, so who knows when i'll get around
to it honestly. Do you like them?

I love the Epernay! Maybe even better than the regular Illusione line, and that's saying something. I've only had a couple, though, they are harder to find than the "Original Document" Illusione.

Great review, I love these too. Last one I had I noticed a lot of milk chocolate to go along with everything else.

2. They're 15 to a box.. at first I read that there were 100 boxes of
15, and i thought i had something super rare. Well in all actuality,
they made 1000 boxes. I'm putting the sealed one up for a long time,
and the other, i'll let age too! and revisit it once or twice a year....
(hopefully anyway!):crosseyed

Great review! Thanks

Just how many boxes were you able to get?
