Alright, here's one of those stories you would like to tuck deep in the memory warehouse and never stumble across again. I'm getting a good chuckle out of laughing at myself so I figured I might as well share the fun.
After being away from home, I'm finally back and had a chance to fill my replacement Xikar and give it a spin. Well, it's feeling a little touchy and takes a few clicks to get the jet to light. I figured I'd give it a shot to gently adjust the spark wire, but dang I hate to wait until I've used it enough to need another fill. So, there I go, cranking the jet to full blast and pretending to be some sort of Jedi with my Xikar jet lighter-saber. When the flame dies down, I flip the lighter over and, as a habit, turn the fuel down all the way. Then it hits me. Why waste all that time and butane when that little dial was there the whole time! Now, as if that's not bad enough, I've played with the spark on a few lighters before, and ALWAYS go about it by turning the dial down, adjust the wire, dial back up to test, repeat as needed. I have no clue why I was stuck thinking I needed to empty the tank. I'm going to blame jet lag on this one.
