This stick is described by the Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust website as follows:
Cervantes Fino 6.25 X 46
The filler consists of USA Pennsylvania Broadleaf Ligero and 4 types of Nicaragua leaf: GK Condega C-SG Seco, Pueblo Nuevo Criollo Visa, La Joya Esteli C-98 Viso, and ASP Esteli Hybrid Ligero. Then a Matacapan (Mexican) Negro de Temporal binder and La Meca Ecuador Habano Grade 1 Dark Rosado wrapper.
Appearance and construction
This is a beautiful stick. The wrapper is a very dark brown with a bit of a rosy cast to it. Wrapper is slightly oily to the touch, smooth and a few veins present. The cigar has a slight give to it. Cigar given a straight cut
Pre-Light Draw
The cigar has an earthy and light cocoa scent along the wrapper. The scent from the foot is more pronounced earthiness. The pre-draw is earthy and chocolate. Touching the tongue to the filler gives a slightly salty taste.
First 1/3
Upon initial light the first thing I noticed was a bit of spiciness that was more cinnamon than pepper. Notes of mocha with a bit of sweetness. Retro was surprisingly smooth with the cinnamon spice upfront. This cigar got very creamy and silky smooth during the first 1/3 with the sweetness building and the spiciness receding to the background. There was also another spice that starting coming in and out and stayed during the entire smoke. I am having trouble identifying what it is but it also gives a slight cooling effect to the cigar. I don't know ...maybe star anise?
Second 1/3
Very nice transition to a very smooth creamy smoke with a touch of some fruitiness like black plums ( or some other ripe fruit) riding along with the chocolate and coffee notes. That spice taste that I am having trouble iidentifying is still there. So is the cinnamon. The sweetness has picked up quite a bit. The saltiness is still there when the tongue is touched to the filler. This is a really good smoke.
Final 1/3
The flavor profile stays relatively constant from the middle third but intensified a bit. Still chocolate, creamy sweetness but the cinnamon spice comes back toward the tip of the tongue and is very evident. Toward the final bit of the smoke this spiciness became more peppery.
Burn
The cigar burned evenly throughout the smoke. I did 1 minor touch-up during the last third. The need for this was my fault as I did not pay attention to the cigar when my wife joined me on the porch and began a conversation. Smoke production was excellent and the draw was great throughout with just the right amount of resistance.
Overall
This is an impressive cigar. The attempt to create a very high quality smoking experience is obvious. It is complex, smooth and delicious. I do think that this cigar is complex enough that you need to sip it and smoke it slowly to pick up all the nuances. There are many to pick up on. Enjoyment level is high with this stick. It will not bore you I assure you. Easily a 90+ cigar. Congrats @ssaka . You have created a beauty.
